IIBIS-APU RY is a development aid society that does not seek personal economic gain.
The society’s goal is to assist disadvantaged individuals and families in Egypt, particularly in the Luxor area. The assisted individuals are chosen with help from a local Coptic church.
The local volunteer representative of the society is keeping in touch with the assisted individuals and families.
One of the main goals of IIBIS-APU RY is to employ Egyptian women. The society has formed a strong collaboration with several Fair Trade womens’ cooperatives.
The society brings handicrafts (e.g. purses, scarves, jewellery) made by local Egyptian women. The handicrafts are sold at the society’s bazaars and other events. All economic profits gained from this are returned to Egypt as development aid.
IIBIS-APU RY also aims to contribute to cultural exhange between Finland and Egypt, e.g. through trips organized to Egypt.
